Step up your summer grilling with this Melted Swiss Dog with Honey Mustard and Onion featuring Tillamook Farmstyle Swiss Slices for the ultimate cheesy bite.
Ingredients
For the Hot Dogs:
8 hot dogs of your choice
8 hot dogs buns
2 yellow onions, sliced into ¼ inch thick rings
2 tbsp white vinegar
16 slices of Tillamook Farmstyle Swiss Slices
For the Honey Mustard Sauce:
2 tbsp yellow mustard
2 tbsp spicy brown mustard
¼ cup honey
½ cup mayonnaise
¼ cup sour cream
1 tsp hot sauce
Prepare your honey mustard sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together. Mix ¼ cup of mayonnaise, 2 tbsp of sour cream, 1 tbsp of yellow mustard, 1 tbsp of spicy brown mustard, 2 tbsp of honey, and ½ tsp of hot sauce. Set
aside. If making in advance, keep refrigerated.Preheat grill to medium-high heat (400-450 degrees F).
Add hot dogs to the grill and cook according to the package instructions. When the hot dogs begin to look like they are ready to burst, roll them over to their other side. Remove hot dogs from the grill to rest.
Add your onion slices to the grill and brush them with white vinegar. Adding vinegar to the onions gives them extra flavor as they cook! Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side, or
longer if you like extra char.Remove the onions and roughly chop them into bite sized pieces (in the style of a relish).
Split open your hot dogs buns and place them split side down on top of the grill grate for a minute or two to char.
Flip your buns. To your toasted buns, add 2 slices of Tillamook Farmstyle Swiss Cheese Slices, covering the entire bun. Close the lid for 1-2 minutes to
melt the cheese.Remove cheesy buns from the grill and add a hotdog to each bun, on top of the melted cheese.
To the hotdog, add the chopped onions and drizzle with honey mustard sauce.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
