

Savory & Sweet Cheddar Waffles

Ingredients
4 Belgian-style waffles, homemade or store bought
Tart cherry jam
8 slices ham
½ cup maple syrup
1 tbsp. powdered sugar (optional)
Waffle batter ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. white sugar
2 large eggs
1 ½ cups warmed buttermilk
Waffle Directions
Skip these steps if you are using store bought waffles.
Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Repeat with the wet ingredients in another bowl and add the cheese shreds.
Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture. Whisk until entirely combined.
Ladle batter into a preheated waffle maker.
Cook waffles until golden and crisp.
Remove and set aside until ready to use.
Waffle Slider Directions
On a clean cutting board, assemble waffle sandwiches by spreading the jelly over one face of each “waffle bun”. Place two slices of cheese atop each waffle. Place ham on every other waffle.
Heat butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Gently place one sandwich into the pan and allow the cheese to melt on each side, four minutes per side. Repeat until all your sandwiches are cooked.
Cut each sandwich into quarters, drizzle with syrup, dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
