2 Million Pounds of Food Collected in Great Food Drive
As a farmer-owned and farmer-led co-op, we at Tillamook believe everyone deserves to have access to real, wholesome food. That’s we proudly sponsor the KGW Newschannel 8 Great Food Drive. Both our farmers and our employees are fully committed to fighting hunger and addressing its causes, especially in Tillamook’s home state of Oregon. In 2017 alone, thanks to the generosity of our community, we not only met our goal of 800,000 pounds of food—we surpassed it! We’re proud to share that more than 2 million pounds of food was collected that year for the Oregon Food Bank during the Great Food Drive.
How was Tillamook involved?
In addition to our sponsorship of the Great Food Drive, which helped drive awareness of the issue and the campaign, we also donated to the Oregon Food Bank a portion of proceeds from the sale of Tillamook cheese, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream and butter in Oregon and SW Washington. Thanks to your purchases in 2017, Tillamook donated $50,000 to fight hunger in our community!
However, we know our work isn’t done. Today, 1 in 5 Oregonians still struggle with hunger, and a third of those who receive food boxes are children. But if the success of previous Great Food Drives is any indication, we’re confident we’re making great strides in the fight against hunger.
Tillamook’s commitment to the Oregon Food Bank continues throughout the year with donations of funds and food, along with volunteerism by our employees and farmers. Thank you for joining us in this fight!
